Bringing Energy to Everyday Life

Ireland's solar sector has entered a new phase of growth.

The Scale of Solar 2026 report reveals that total connected solar capacity reached 2.7 GW by the end of May 2026, representing growth of almost 300% since 2023 and one of the fastest periods of renewable energy deployment in Ireland's history.

Today, solar energy is helping to power homes, farms, schools, businesses and communities across the country. More than 190,000 homes and businesses are now generating their own electricity, while solar supplied a record peak contribution of 37.1% of electricity demand during the past year.

Launched by Minister for Climate, Energy and the Environment Darragh O'Brien TD at Solar Ireland's annual conference, the report provides the most comprehensive overview of Ireland's solar market to date and highlights the growing role solar is playing in strengthening energy resilience, supporting economic development and delivering clean electricity across Ireland.
