Solarco installs rooftop solar system at Roscrea service station
Solar Ireland member Solarco has completed the installation of a 140 kWp rooftop solar PV system at Mulrooneys Gala service station in Roscrea, Co. Tipperary, helping the long-standing local business reduce both electricity costs and carbon emissions.
Service stations are typically high electricity users, with demand driven by refrigeration, lighting, heating, kitchen equipment and forecourt operations. The new system uses 212 rooftop solar panels and is expected to generate approximately 134,400 kWh of electricity per year, offsetting a significant share of the site’s electricity use.
The installation makes full use of the building’s available roof space and has been designed to allow the business to monitor generation and energy savings in real time.
Projects such as this demonstrate the growing role of commercial rooftop solar in helping Irish businesses manage energy demand while contributing to Ireland’s energy transition.
