Member News: PVGEN expands commercial solar operations to Northern Ireland

Solar Ireland member PVGEN has announced the expansion of its commercial solar operations into Northern Ireland, marking a further step in the development of the all-island renewable energy market.
Based in Ireland, PVGEN delivers solar installations across the commercial, residential and agricultural sectors, supporting businesses seeking to reduce energy costs and improve sustainability performance. The company has developed a strong presence in commercial rooftop solar, including solar panel installations for major forecourt and retail operators.
The company’s expansion into Northern Ireland reflects growing demand from energy-intensive sectors such as logistics, refrigeration and horticulture, where on-site solar generation can help stabilise electricity costs and reduce exposure to market volatility.
Among the first projects delivered in Northern Ireland are installations for Derry Refrigerated Transport, Simplyfruit and Evergreen Horticulture. At Evergreen Horticulture, PVGEN installed a 270-panel solar system expected to generate approximately 62,600 kWh of electricity annually, reducing energy costs and avoiding around 29 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year.
The expansion highlights the increasing role of commercial solar in supporting businesses across the island of Ireland to manage energy demand while contributing to wider decarbonisation goals.
