Member News: EDF power solutions begins construction of 80MW Taduff Solar Park in Roscommon

Solar Ireland member EDF power solutions Ireland is set to begin construction of the c.80MW Taduff Solar Park in Co. Roscommon, marking a key milestone for the project.

Located approximately 6km southwest of Athlone, the solar farm is expected to generate enough renewable electricity to power around 20,000 homes once operational, contributing to Ireland’s 2030 climate targets.

Construction is scheduled to begin in March 2026, with the project expected to become operational by Spring 2028.

A Community Benefit Fund of approximately €180,000 per year will be established once the site is operational, supporting local initiatives and community projects over a 15-year period. The development will also contribute to the local economy through commercial rates and construction activity.

EDF power solutions Ireland currently operates solar farms in Wexford and Kilkenny and continues to expand its portfolio as part of Ireland’s growing utility-scale solar sector.
