Solar Ireland members Amarenco and Greenvolt Next have announced a partnership to deliver three new utility-scale solar farms across County Cork, representing a combined installed capacity of 32 MW.

The projects, located in Carrigaline, Cobh and Timoleague, are expected to generate enough renewable electricity to power approximately 38,000 homes each year once operational, with completion targeted for mid-2027.

Amarenco, the project developer, has appointed Greenvolt Next as engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) partner, responsible for delivering the three solar farms from construction through to commissioning.

The development marks another significant investment in Ireland's renewable energy infrastructure, supporting energy security while increasing the supply of home-grown renewable electricity.

Alongside clean energy generation, the projects will incorporate Amarenco's ECHO soil health programme, helping to improve biodiversity and regenerate local ecosystems, while Community Benefit Funds will be established for each of the three locations.

Commenting on the partnership, Declan Cullinane, Managing Director of Amarenco, said:

"A project of this scale meant we needed a partner with the vision, resources and expertise to complement our capabilities. Together with Greenvolt Next, we will deliver a project that sets a new benchmark for large-scale renewable energy development in Ireland."

Owen Power, CEO of Greenvolt Next Ireland and UK, added:

"We are delighted to partner with Amarenco on the delivery of these three major solar projects, helping bring more clean, home-grown renewable energy onto Ireland's electricity system."
